The October trail ride was met with snow on the ground, and a cold breeze in the air.  But, like the brave souls we are this didn't stop us from heading out into the woods to have some fun on the Old Trapper trail.  The group that met at Baken Park were: Charlie Rupp, Cody and Ann Thorson, Caleb Rupp, Peter and Natalia Kronenberg, Kent Renaud, Vern Howard, Rayland Bender, and myself.  Rayland was supposed to be our trail leader for the day.  Unfrotunately, he was called away on a family emergency before we got to the trail.  I was elected to take over as trail leader.

Several inches of snow had fallen earlier in the week.  Which made Old Trapper much more difficult than normal.  The group turned onto the road that leads to the trail and discovered many downed trees on our way to the bottom.  I think everyone got some new "pinstripes" while we worked our way over the many trees.  By the time we got to the turnaround, it was time to eat.  Since it was cold, snowy, and windy lunch was cut pretty short.

Charlie was the first to enter the actual trail.  After several challenging sections, he came to the first real obstacle of the day.  While backing off of one of the larger rocks, we heard the all too familiar sound of a birfield breaking.  Caleb went around to the other side to winch him out.  Everyone else decided to back out and try the next section.  The trail was tight and covered in snow.  I lost my patience and stood on the gas a little too hard while backing up with my wheels turned.  KERPOW!!  Now I was also broke.  I made my way out with a little help from PEter.  By the time Charlie was dragged out, it was getting late.  We all made it back to the trailhead just after the sun had set.  It was a long day for not much wheelin'.  But like we say great times, great friends, great day!
